I am constantly searching for a fresh view of our world, and so have become a keen observer of all that is around me. I noticed that everything in life is composed of layers: layers of color, layers of history, layers of culture, and layers of meaning. I am intrigued by the way a painting develops, layer upon layer, the paint fusing together unexpectedly, until it is finally complete. I have grown to embrace the spills, the drips, and the mistakes, as they add the human touch to my creative process. I am taking art back to its raw, passionate form, where one lets their intuitive and primal artist take over. In my art, I am attempting to show the phenomenal beauty in everyday locations and objects, accepting them as part of the layered history of our earth. I adore vibrant, fluid brushstrokes loaded with rich color that convey the explosive energy of everything around us. I have opened myself up to experimenting with taboo compositions, bizarre palate concoctions, and playful textures. Having grown up in Durango Colorado, I find much of my inspiration within the jaw-dropping landscapes and the layers of history that create the Southwest.
